Written Outcome

Written Outcome

A Written Outcome is the chairperson's formal record of what happened at the hearing - created via Write Outcome from the source case's Actions menu, and pre-filled from the linked NTA Enquiry.

A Written Outcome, pre-filled with employee, chairperson, and complainant details from the source case and NTA

The narrative

A Written Outcome is built from a set of independent Markdown sections, each optional but together forming a complete written judgment:

  • Introduction, Complainant's case, Accused's case, Analysis, Finding, Mitigation, Aggravation, Outcome.
  • Complainant Evidence / Accused Evidence - attachment tables, auto-lettered as Annexure A, B, C... across both tables combined, so references in the narrative stay consistent.
  • A proposed Outcome (linked to Offence Outcome) and Outcome Date.

What it does - and doesn't - do

Writing and submitting a Written Outcome does not by itself change the source case's own outcome, and has no effect on the employee record. It's the narrative record of the hearing, not the sanction. There's a separate action, Update Linked Intervention, that can push the chairperson's final version of the charge wording back onto the source case's own facts - useful if the hearing clarified or narrowed the original charge - but this still only updates case facts, not the outcome itself.

The actual outcome is only ever set by the sanction document that follows - see Issuing a Sanction.

Next: Issuing a Sanction.
